I’m Not Here
I’m not inside your computer.
I’m not in cyber space.
I’m not here.
I’m in the mountains with the whole family.
So no blog. Just a quote, a book, and a song.
The QUOTE Peri just read to me:
“I don’t think it is enough appreciated how much an outdoor book the Bible is. It is a hypaethral book, such as Thoreau talked about — a book open to the sky. It is best read and understood outdoors, and the farther outdoors the better.” -Wendell Berry
The BOOK I’ll be reading on vacation:
Brendan: A Novel
Frederick Buechner
A historical fiction exploring the Celtic Christianity of 6th century Ireland.
“An artistic triumph to rival the award-winning Godric and Buechner’s other outstanding works.” -Publishers Weekly
Christianity doesn’t have a more gifted writer than dear Mr. Buechner. The first Buechner novel you should read is Son of Laughter.
(If I finish Brendan, I’ll read The Memory of Old Jack by Wendell Berry.)
The SONG I’m listening to right now:
I’m Not There
Bob Dylan
Feel free to talk among yourselves.
I’m not here…I’m gone.
